Similar to Norton Ghost, you can use Clonezilla to clone an entire hard disk or just specific partitions. This is extremely useful for people who are concerned that their drives may fail or that a malicious attack may render all – or part – of important data unusable. The program supports most file systems (FAT, NTFS, EXT2, EXT3, EXT4, HFS+, JFS, etc.) and can work with all operating systems. In other words, you can use it with any machine to perform extensive backups. The Clonezilla Server Edition (SE) is able to clone up to 40 machines at the same time – which is a massive amount of data. The Live edition is designed for single computers and can backup and restore drives quickly and painlessly.
The program comes as either an ISO or a ZIP file and is easy to install and use. The user interface is straightforward and all the options are neatly organized. You can place it on removable media and take it with you to the computer that needs backing up. If you create a boot disk with this program, it allows you to resuscitate dead machines or at least recover the data on them, even though their operating system doesn’t boot. So it’s also a very potent recovery software.
Clonezilla is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in hard disk copy category and is available to all software users as a free download.
