If you have one or more webcams around the house, you can make a very efficient surveillance system out of them with the help of ContaCam. The software can work with unlimited numbers of Network, WDM and DV cameras and also has an impressive feature: Motion Detection. It detects movement and takes action immediately – it can ether upload the video stream via FTP to the server, run a third party program automatically or send an email alert to the user.
The video streams from ContaCam can be accessed live from anywhere and the program is able to take snapshots periodically and save them in the history. You can easily view the snapshots at any time and delete them at will. They are presented as a daily flash movie for easy viewing. To start recording, all you have to do is install the program and go through the three steps of the Assistant wizard. You get to choose how much you wish to keep the files because the program is able to delete old files periodically to free up disk space.
