There are some factors that determine the quality of storage devices. Some of these factors serve as minimal configuration recommendations for some computer units. Especially the computers that are designated to perform multimedia editing. You might have noticed that the speed of copying content to drives are not the same, that is a typical example write speed which is one of the properties that determine the quality of a drive.

Test read and write speed

You can test the reading speed of a given hard drive, but you can test the write speed too. It is useful for checking the health and capabilities of any storage device. The application can test any type of storage device, be it USB flash drive, memory card, solid state drives, etc. Moreover, the user can expedite the speed of disk check by specifying that the program checks specific sectors or the entire disk.

H2testw portable is good to check the health of a local or external storage device, but also to spot fake data for SD cards. You can use it as sd card tester too, for flash drives.

How to use it

Start the program, then

• choose English as the default language
• click Select target and browser for SD card, USB or another device
• click Verify (try this first, is faster than Write + Verify option)
• check results. If all is good, you will see the message “Test finished without errors.”

This is a portable executable file that can be used to determine various properties of a storage device to determine its capabilities or compare with others.

After completing the test, it displays the time it took to complete the test, the size that was tested and the writing/reading speed of the storage device. The result can be copied to a text file.

H2testw is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in hardware diagnostic category and is available to all software users as a free download.
