The defragmentation process is needed to speed up the hard disk and the entire computer. It will arrange the files so different programs can find them easier. To launch the application, search for defrag on the start menu and click on the file that appears. After the launch, the app presents the user with a list of drives detected on the computer with additional information such as the disk space used, available disk quota and the prevalence of fragmented files.
Once you select one of the drives, the options become active; you can either examine a drive by clicking on the analyze tab or you can proceed to defragment directly by clicking on the optimize option.
Also, it support command line. Just type pagedfrg followed by an argument
- -n Never defrag
- -o Defrag once
- -e Defrag every boot
- -t Set countdown to specified number of seconds
The settings at the lower part of the application window allow the user to choose a duration to schedule periodical system optimization while the second option also enables the user to select the drives on the system to be optimized during the process.
