A review by John

If you’re in need of a graphical interface to manage Mercurial and Git repositories, then you might find this software very useful indeed. It is free only for home usage, for commercial use is paid. It provides a complete and intuitive graphical interface for your needs and it allows users to monitor the state of repositories while still maintaining simplicity.

The repository index is structured and the app can be organized however you see fit because it allows you to reorder, find, push, merge, revert, cherry-pick and also rebase commits, which comes quite handy. Content synchronization, proxy support, and file filters are only a few of the features that this tool provides.  It features a user-friendly interface and the GUI enables log visualization and branch management in a very simple manner.

Because this is a portable software, it doesn’t require any installation whatsoever and it doesn’t leave traces in the system.

This program is very complete and reliable, but the best part is that it’s simple and you’ll get the hang of it in no time so you can make the most use out of it.

Portable SmartGit is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in programming category and is available to all software users as a free download.
