QB64

Run programs made with Quick Basic or Qbasic"
A review by John

Microsoft QuickBASIC and QBASIC (Quick Beginners All purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) are both Integrated Development Environments and compilers for the BASIC programming language that was developed by Microsoft. These IDEs run mainly on DOS, which means that programs developed on these platforms will be unable to run efficiently on newer versions of the Windows operating system. But with the aid of this application, you can circumvent this problem.

QB64 is a modern self-hosting BASIC compiler which is compatible with Microsoft QBasic and QuickBASIC and enables you to compile native codes for newer Windows OS, from Windows XP up to Windows 10.

This BASIC compiler does not require installation, you can simply download and run the executable file. It’s portability also allows it to be stored on removable drives and run on any system. The compiler opens to up to a user interface that is similar to the one found on DOS, but unlike most applications with DOS interfaces, it comes with support for the mouse. You shouldn’t find it difficult to operate if you’re familiar with DOS.

QB64 is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in coding / compilers category and is available to all software users as a free download.
