Did you ever wondered where all that space from hard disk has gone? Well, we think many of Windows users have faced this conundrum at least once. This is exactly why TreeSize was developed: to tell you where your precious space has disappeared. After you install the program, you access it from the context menu – right-click – of any folder or drive on your computer. You will immediately see the exact size of the object, as well as the size of all its subfolders. The program helps you quickly identify large subfolders and you can then drill down to the file level to see which files are responsible for your disappearing disk space.
The program is free to install and use and even works on devices with touchscreens. As such, it can operate in both Windows 8 and Windows 10. It also has touch capabilities for these devices.
Various filters help you weed out the results until you find the files you’re after. The scan speed is outstanding because the TreeSize tool works with the Master File Table of Windows. You can apply NTFS (default and recommended for Windows) compression to specific directories to free up some more disk space. Also, you can see the size of folders that are locked with administrator passwords.
TreeSize is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in disk analyzer category and is available to all software users as a free download.
