To prevent the unauthorized transfer of data from or to your computer via the USB port, you need to have a specialized and functional software designed for that purpose. This tool allows you to manage the devices connected to your computer through the USB port. Installing the application can be tricky as it prompts you to download applications you don’t need, but you can ignore it.
The application sits in the system tray and clicking on it opens up the main window. The interface is simple and comprehensive, displaying four icons for different types of devices (Storage Device, Printer, Scanner, and Audio) with which you can use to disable or enable devices.
Using the password protect option, you can lock the changes you made so as to prevent someone else from reverting the changes if your PC has multiple users.
Once a type of device is disabled, any device of that type is connected via USB, it will be unable to work.
From the options menu, you can enable or disable the password, set the application to run at startup, enable keyboard shortcuts and hide the USB Manager in your system.
USB Manager is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in os enhancements category and is available to all software users as a free download.
