With a size of just under 2 MB, this program is designed to be fast and versatile. It can create a virtual disk drive on your Windows computer and then mount a disk image on it. It is able to work with formats like CUE, CCD, NRG, MDS, IMG and, of course, ISO. These formats are just virtual disk images and WinCDEmu is the program that allows you to access their contents with ease. When you double-click one of these images, the program pops up and asks for a drive letter. As soon as you select one, the software mounts the image in the virtual disk drive. You can then access the contents of the drive just like you would access any other CD or DVD.
An interesting thing is that you can configure WinCDEmu to ask for administrator permissions before mounting images. To unmount the image from the drive, all you have to do is right-click the drive and choose “Eject” from the context menu. There is also a portable version that you can store on external media and use anywhere you go. Don’t worry about the operating system – the program works on all versions of Windows.
WinCDEmu is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in virtual cd/dvd-rom category and is available to all software users as a free download.
