Sometimes, operating systems may develop one or more faults and may need to be installed in order to fix the problem. But some computers are not able to do this due to not having a bootable CD-ROM. This is a software which loads the correct drivers needed to gain access to the CD-ROM drive using the floppy disk drive so as to perform the re-installation process.
The software is specifically designed by Microsoft exclusively for Windows XP Home Edition.
In order to run this software, you need to have a functioning CD drive, a floppy drive with unrestricted access and blank formatted disks (six in number).
Upon deployment, the software displays a console-like interface with three options and the keyboard shortcut you can use to initiate each option. Each option involves extracting and copying the files on all six disks. Data is moved from the software to the disks and as each disk is full, you will be prompted to insert another.
Although the software is useful for users that do not have bootable CD-ROM, most modern PCs lack a floppy disk drive which is a requirement.
Be careful to label the disks in the correct order as that is the way they will be inserted during the installation process. Once this is done, set your floppy drive as the first boot device, insert the disks one after the other and follow the on-screen instructions.
Windows XP Home Startup Disk is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in system utilities category and is available to all software users as a free download.
